Auria
A world of steel and sorcery, magic and mystery, and gods and men.
A world of steel and sorcery, magic and mystery, and gods and men.
Auria is a fantasy setting and universe created by fantasy and sci-fi author Aquila. It was originally created with the intent of gifting his friends with a setting of his own creation. Now, using this website as an archive to all information regarding the world setting, Auria is publicly available for any and all who wish to run their own games or create their own stories within.
It is filled with magic and mystery, swords and sorcery, gods in varying shades of gray, and a history as rich and alive as all other game settings. Auria is a high-magic and religious setting. Player characters will be, by the nature of the setting, supernatural from the start. The gods of Auria are not idle, and they aren't exactly subtle in their influences either. It is with this understanding that this setting was created and made. Those who want a low-magic, low-religion setting will not find one here.
The Ascended are supernatural individuals blessed with powers received from the gods. They were once duty-bound to protect the world from the threat of Spirit Beasts. But now, as all Spirit Beasts have been removed from Auria, they exist unbound by their previous duties. They wander the world, making their own destinies. They will likely be the protagonists of a story, or the heroes of a campaign.
The Eleven are the primary pantheon of Auria. They present themselves as omniscient and omnipotent, yet infallible. These gods, in many ways, show many of the traits of mortal kind, only through their great powers and immortality does it seem as though it is not the case. The Eleven play an immeasurable part in the lives of those who live on Auria, even those who object to their worship.
The commanders, wielders, and masters of great evils. These deities are all the things the Eleven themselves are could not bring to embody. Having enacted the Rite of Ascension themselves, the Wicked Six are the shadows of the lands, the pockets of darkness between the light. They are the most necessary of evils.
