Domains: Knowledge, Arcana, Order
Titles: The Watcher, the Seeker
When a quill first touches the surface of parchment, it is Adrestus that watches the author and offers them flashes of wisdom, creativity, insight, and knowledge. Adrestus is the scent and feeling of a book, fresh or ancient, in one's hands. He is the seeker of knowledge. He is the guardian of history, both past and future. He is the lord of the arcane. He is the bard that recounts a glorious tale of a legendary warrior. It is often said that civilization does not truly begin until someone records it— and Adrestus has existed alongside mortalkind since the first words were given form and meaning. It is in the realm of knowledge that Adrestus exists. His presence echoes all throughout history, written or oral. And it is because of this that Adrestus is one of the most respected and revered members of the Ten.
In the extremely rare occasions that he takes a physical form, Adrestus appears as a winged humanoid wearing a black robe with gold scrolling, a carved, marble mask that covers his entire face, and a large, white tome in his arm.
Those who wish to become a cleric of Adrestus may use the following domains: Knowledge, Arcana, Order
Knowledge. The path of acquiring knowledge is not an easy one. Whether the knowledge you seek is insignificant or world-changing, it is Adrestus who guides you on this path. He walks alongside you as you peruse a library's collection. He stands behind you as you delve into a tome. He guides your hand and feet to the locations that will eventually reveal what you desire.
Vigilance. Adrestus, in the tumultuous history of Auria, has remained entirely neutral. His vigilance and patience— perhaps traits he acquired from Kophos— have reinforced his belief that the only true answer to conflict is inaction, and the slow acquisition of lore and knowledge. The universe contains the answer to the strifes of conflict somewhere, Adrestus need only find it.
Arcana. Adrestus is the father of magic. It is from him that spellcasting is born, and it is from him that magic has suffused itself into Auria and beyond. He bestowed arcana as a gift to mortalkind for achieving greatness without the guiding hand of any of the Ten.
The methods of worshiping Adrestus are many, from consuming every piece of lore you can locate and write down, to expressing your creativity as a mortal and showing the world what your brilliant mind has to offer. Most will speak a small prayer to Adrestus upon beginning or completing the creation of nearly anything, from a short poem to a new spell.
To worship Adrestus is to worship knowledge and its acquisition, to understand the value of inaction, to know the beauty of the creation that blooms from the minds of mortals. You must be creative. You must be vigilant. You must be driven for more knowledge and lore. By performing such acts or behaving in such manners, you further the influence of Adrestus and deepen your connection to him.
To go against this philosophy, to be secretive, to be impetuous, to be rash, to be unaware goes against all that Adrestus represents. By performing such acts or behaving in such a manner, you lessen the influence of Adrestus and weaken your connection to him.
