KOPHOS

"The first utterance. The force that is, that has been, and that will always be. Alone, it exists beyond the horizon of comprehension, its very nature a perplexing paradox, its essence and identity suffused through every thing.

It is the stardust within all beings. It is the arc of time as it stretches forward unto infinity. It is the stars and swirling galaxies of the Great Space. It is the kaleidoscopic coils of nebulae. It is the stretches of emptiness between planets and moons. It is Stars, Space, and Time itself."

Kophos' primary domains are Time and the Stars. It is the prime guardian of time, sanctifying it, protecting it, and ensuring its continuous and unbroken flow toward the future. While Avrina takes charge of the Sun, Kophos oversees all Stars and the Space they occupy. Most Aurians can only theorize what exists beyond their own world, but none can deny the curiosity that often overtakes them when considering what exists in the night sky.

History

In truth, quite little is known and much less is documented about Kophos. From its origins to the beginnings of its life, Kophos does not reveal much about itself. Even the Court only knows that it tells them, but from the lips of the gods themselves comes this information:

Kophos has always existed. It existed alongside the First Architect, observing and watching the Architect's inexperienced hands and young mind weave together the Multiverse. Whether or not the First Architect knew it, or was conscious of it, Kophos was present. Kophos forged Time alongside the First Architect, and kept record of its slow movement toward the present and future.

Appearance

Kophos typically appears as a bipedal entity with no discernable body type or gender. It wears a cloak of stars and galaxies, and where its head would be is a singular, floating orb made of condensed stardust, swirling gases, and divine light.

Worship

Most people of Auria share a general respect for Kophos. As the Divine Guardian, the Master of Time, Kophos has done little to earn the disrespect, much less ire, of any person. Few dedicate themselves to total worship of Kophos.

Rituals that primarily honor Kophos are usually performed in times of new beginnings, both temporal and spatial: the birth of a newborn child, the graduation from an Academy of Dianthus, equinoxes, sunrises, and so on and so forth.

Holy Days

Kophos' primary holy day is Kophura, which occurs on the last day of Casuna. It celebrates the close of the year and the beginning of a new one. It is a time of self-reflection and reconnection with those around its celebrants.
