“Can’t ever escape Amaryllis. They’ve got a hand in nearly everything you eat, touch, or read. But I’d rather it be Amaryllis than Niros, like how it used to be. They call themselves the ‘Greatest Nation in the World.’ So, if there’s anything you should give credit to an Amaryllan for, it’s their ability to market themselves. Just don’t expect them to do it fairly.”
Grassland Plains, Forests, and Cliffed Coasts. Amaryllis is a landscape of rolling hills, tall grassland plains, stretches of verdant forest, and cliffed coastlines. The majority of land that surrounds the hundreds of small towns, villages, and hamlets of Amaryllis is farmland, kept fertile through a precise, measured crop rotation. Thousands upon thousands of pounds of grain are produced by Amaryllis to be exported to every other nation on Auria.
Numen Oak. What makes Amaryllis truly special is their Numen Oak. These massive trees that grow northeast of Amarylla, the capital, reach a height of well over 300 feet with a circumference of anywhere between 80 to 100 feet. From their pale, smooth, marble white bark to their foil-red leaves, the Numen Oak is one of Auria’s largest, oldest, and most beautiful organisms.
However, the beauty of Numen Oak is only its surface-level quality. The true nature of the wood is its ability to retain and insulate magic. To capture enchantments, and store it for seemingly eternity. Most commonly, Numen Oak is used to store protective magic, enchantments and casts made to ensure the stability, structural integrity, and overall strength of a building or other sort of construction. Numen Oak’s magical storing abilities are so great that during the Spellblight, all of Amarylla was unaffected; the destruction of the Weave did nothing to the magic stored within the Numen Oak. It is for this reason that Numen Oak is one of Auria’s most sought-after construction materials. From estates and mansions, to large markets and stores, and especially to airships and sea vessels, anything made from Numen Oak boasts a nearly impregnable defense.
In order to ensure the continuation of Numen Oak, Amaryllis strictly enforces conservational lumberjacking and woodcutting. To even approach designated Numen Oak woodcutting sites, one must have several layers of identification and follow even more protocols. Beyond this, Amaryllis has gone out of their way to employ… other methods of protecting their Numen Oak forests and reserves.
Merchant Companies. Amaryllis’ central location, the size of Belladonna Bay, and the effective usage of the twin cities Fortuna Major and Minor, all solidify its claims that it is the center of Auria. Nearly every ship on the sea makes a stop in one of Amaryllis’ ports. Spread throughout these ports are Amaryllis’ infamous merchant companies. From the Amarylla Trading Company to the Irisa Trade House, there is no water or ship that Amarylla does not touch.

City of Canals. Amarylla is one of the largest cities on Auria, both in terms of size and population. It encompasses a massive stretch of land approximately 350 square miles in size. The city is broken up by canals and waterways, with canals ranging from 300 feet across to a measly 5 feet across. Most canals are no deeper than about ten to fifteen feet, most feeding into the intricate sewer system beneath the city.
Wards and Quarters. Amarylla was a fully planned city, the majority of the planning done by the Collective. Intelligently, the Collective created a system of organization for the city that is still followed to this day. The city has six main wards, and within each ward are any number of subdivided quarters. Each of these wards abide by a theme or use. The names of the wards are written in High Amaryllan, a language that is only ever used in highly academic endeavors.
Rolai Ward. Roughly translated to “Clock Ward,” this is the central ward of the city. It contains an assortment of buildings, but is generally reserved for large events, parades, celebrations, and any number of reasons for big gatherings. It features the Timekeeper’s Tower, a bronze clock tower that served as a gift from Bourdeaux to the city of Amarylla during the Comet Age.
Theosa Ward. Translated to the “Gods’ Ward,” this ward houses all religious temples, buildings, and shrines. Within this ward resides the Asithemos, one of the finest and greatest symbols of Amaryllan architecture in Auria. Dedicated as a temple of the Adra, the Asithemos is an incredibly popular tourist destination for any traveler or visitor to Amarylla.
Kyvni Ward. Translated to the “Leaders’ Ward,” this ward is where the majority of government buildings and government leader housing can be found. Every building in this ward was constructed from Numen Oak, as is tradition for any Amaryllan architecture.
Asimena Ward. Translated to the “Ward of Silver,” this is where many of Amarylla’s companies, markets, finance buildings, and businesses can be found. The amount of money exchanged in the Asimena, as it is colloquially shortened to, is more money than most Aurians can comprehend. It is commonly said that, “One good trade in the Asimena could make you the richest man on Auria.”
Katoiko Ward. Translated to the “Resident Ward,” this is where the majority of middle to upper-class residences can be found. A good amount of these buildings, homes, and estates are made out of Numen Oak, ensuring their protection and security.
Okalasa Ward. Translated to the “Sea Ward” or the “Ocean Ward,” this is the portside ward of Amarylla. It is the second largest ward of the city, right behind the Katoiko Ward.
The Flower Senate. A republic senatorship, all thirteen of these positions are elected. Six of the positions are elected from each ward within the city of Amarylla, six of the other positions are elected from cities and settlements beyond the walls of Amarylla and throughout the whole nation of Amaryllis, and one position is granted to Arete Academy, who also votes on their representative. These senators hold power for four years, before they must be voted on again to maintain their position. A senator can hold power for a maximum of twelve years; following that time, they cannot run for senator ever again.
The Red Legion. This is Amaryllis’ military. It consists of Ascended from the prestigious and ever-lasting Arete Academy, renowned adventurers, and fierce, domestically trained guardsmen. They are known for their red and white armor, all constructed from highly protective Numen Oak.
Arete Academy. The oldest and most prestigious of the Academies of Dianthus, Arete Academy sits in the center of Belladonna Bay, both as a ward and a warning to all those who would dare to attack Amarylla. Every building within the academy is constructed from the finest and most heavily enchanted Numen Oak. Within its white and red walls, Ascended are trained to their utmost potential before being sent out to the rest of the world. Arete Academy is where every one of the Seven Scions trained and graduated; and Athena Aeoris, as of 1039 A.S., still teaches at the school.
The Iron Circle. It is impossible to discuss Amaryllis without, in the same breath, mentioning the Iron Circle. While the Iron Circle may be a thieves’ guild, their involvement in Amaryllis as a nation cannot be understated. It is often joked that “Without the Iron Circle to hold it together, Amaryllis would crumble.” But this statement is more true than most Amaryllans would like to admit.
