You have not yet awakened. You exist chained to nothing but the whims and morals of others. The most willing slave. But this is no injustice.
I have not come to liberate you. I will not break your chains for you. I am not your savior. I am what you wish you could be. I am what you will never experience: freedom.
The Incarnation of Pride, the Promised Savior, the King of Shadows, and the leader of the Wicked Six, whose strength vastly overshadows that of her siblings, Ichor was once the greatest hero of Auria. Then, she failed her mission. Banished from the annals of history and sealed within a prison of eternal anguish, Ichor eventually escaped and set the rest of her family free.
Ichor defies the Nine; it is intrinsic to her very existence, bound up with her as time is bound to Kophos. She wields this defiant pride as a blade of war, a divine declaration of her evil dedication to subverting the supposedly benevolent rule of the Eleven.
Appearance. Ichor appears as a woman with radiant, sun-kissed skin and long, braided black hair.
Ichor’s domains are PRIDE and EVIL.
PRIDE: From self-confidence to bold arrogance, Ichor is the master of mortal pride. Ichor’s interpretation of pride is an all-encompassing one. All pride is useful, and all pride is a means to an end. Humility has its place, of course, and that place is beneath the spirit of pridefulness.
EVIL: Simply because she is the goddess of evil, does not necessarily mean that Ichor herself is evil. It falls under her purview, and while it is a part of her identity, it is oftentimes only that. A part. Regardless, Ichor is able to chart the course of evil’s final destination, acknowledging that even the smallest of kindnesses can result in the greatest evils.
These plot hooks to introduce Ichor are special in that they can each be combined to form an outline for a campaign surrounding the goddess of Pride and Evil.
Whispers of Pride. A particularly prideful player character or NPC is subtly approached by Ichor; first appearing as a quiet voice in the back of their minds and influencing their actions and words to involve more ego, bravado, and hubris. With each action, their connection to Ichor deepens, and so too does her influence and their power. They must choose to resist these temptations, or perhaps succumb to them.
Before the Fall. After acquiring a magical artifact, a player character or NPC is acting strangely out of character. The artifact is secretly cursed, allowing Ichor to more easily influence the mind of whomever holds it or wears it. Yet despite this influence, the strength of the artifact remains ever tempting.
“Live pridefully. Toil only for yourself.”
“Freedom must be earned, never given.”
“Cruelty is a tool. It will always have a place in the right hands.”
