Blessed be, Lady o’ Storms. I seek not your fury nor your rage, but instead safe passage.
The most fickle and furious of the gods, Keratis is the essence of the storm itself. Her voice is thunder, her touch is lightning, her fury is a tempest. She is a force of chaos— but one that is tempered by those that surround her. Woe befall anyone who dares cross her, for the storm comes for them, and it will rip and tear them to shreds.
The seas and oceans of Auria are represen- tations of Keratis’ will and tempestuous nature. Nearly every sailor or seafarer is a devout believer in Keratis. From the dropping of gold into the sea as a form of patronage, the carrying of lightning-bolt shaped amulets to symbolize faith, to the folding of paper cranes and sending them in the direction of travel, they believe in an innumerable number of superstitions regarding the Lady of the Sea and her ability to influence the strength of the tides.
Appearance. Keratis can appear as a tall woman with onyx skin and long, wavy ocean blue hair. Draped over her body is a dress made of loose and flowing white and blue silk, and in her hands she holds a bolt of coalesced lightning.
Keratis’ thrones are SEAS and STORMS.
SEAS: Keratis’ greatest creation, her child, and the single most powerful force of nature on Auria. She directs its movements and orchestrates its catastrophes.
STORMS: Keratis is most typically associated with lightning and thunder storms, but she embodies all storms: hurricanes, ice storms, dust storms, cyclones, tornadoes, hail storms, and more.
Stormridden Revenge. A player has done minor things to slight Keratis; they are plagued by dreams of storms each night. The next time they travel beyond the city, a storm strikes.
Desecration. A village is plagued by eternal thunder and lightning storms. The villagers plead the player characters to help them. Someone in the village is desecrating a local shrine to Keratis.
“Respect the seas, or else you will feel their wrath.”
“Let the storms test your willpower, and you will find your strength.”
“Anger is a weapon, use it wisely to channel the fury of the storm.”
